Eating Out: Nasi Kandar Line Clear

Wow! How long has it been since I updated this blog? I'd like to apologize to my blogging friends for my negligence to update. I've been a bit busy with things... Anyway, I went over to Penang with my family recently as part of my pigging out adventure! Penang is one of the states in Malaysia which is a popular spot for food lovers like me (you need to visit Penang and experience their hawker food). I studied in Penang 5 years ago and I really missed the food!

I can't believe I have never been to Nasi Kandar Line Clear during my studies for three years! This place is one of the popular spot for Nasi Kandar lovers. I noticed how most blogs and magazine (and even street food guide) would feature this restaurant. Anyway, Nasi Kandar is a popular northern Malaysian dish. Basically, it consists of steamed rice (plain or flavored) served with varieties of curries.

I was really lucky that the crowd isn't there when I arrived! This is the settings in the restaurant. You have to queue and wait for your turn to be served. The waiter or Mamak will ask for your preference rice and what kind off side dishes you wanted.

Here are some of the side dishes that can be found in the restaurant. The flavored rice...

A really big fish head as side dishes...

All-time favorite deep fried chicken!

This is my mom's choice of side dishes: steamed white rice with various curries, prawn (that cost RM20 each) ladies fingers and vegetable (cabbage).

And I choose to have: steamed white rice with cuttlefish, curries, vegetable and sliced cucumber. I have to say that I am not disappointed with my meal. The curry was delicious! But it wasn't the best. I've had better Nasi Kandar from a restaurant somewhere in Kuala Lumpur.

Eating Out: Restaurant Zam Zam

I went for a really short trip to Singapore with my mother, sister, cousin and aunt. It was a girls' day out, and we spent half day around Sentosa Island. Then, we went somewhere to Masjid Sultan near Arab Street to pray, and we had lunch at Restaurant Zam Zam.

I had their chicken briyani. They were tasty. Big portion of chicken - they were tender. The briyani was good! (Although it may have to do with the fact that I'm really famished!) It's a bit spicy though. But I like it. It's different from the usual briyani I had in Malaysia.

My cousin had this 'roti chocolate'. I'm not really sure what it's called. But, it was quite good too. Although there was a bit problem on how we should be eating them :)

Eating Out: Capricciosa

Howdy~ I went to Capricciosa, Subang Parade (they had two other outlets: Pavillion, KL and Sunway Pyramid) to celebrate my and Tubbies' birthday a few weeks ago. And Aimi suggested us to visit Capricciosa in Subang Parade. Tubbies likes Pasta, and I didn't mind trying out a new restaurant. Plus, Capricciosa been spreading lots of mouth-watering pictures in their website!

The crowd was really good! We were greeted by a really friendly waitress as we stepped up at the entrance while studying their menus. They're promoted their fresh hand made pasta as one of their specialty and my friends decided to try them. You could see them preparing the pasta from the kitchen window too.

We had Capricciosa Pizza. Their specialty pizza, I guess (as the pizza had the same name as the restaurant). The crust was really good! Soft, and a bit crunchy on the edge. It was topped with beef bacon, beef papperoni, mushroom and bell papers.

I decided to try their seafood risotto (I've never had any risotto before). It's made of tuna, calamari and mussels in tomato sauce. I have to say that it was a bit disappointing. It doesn't look appetizing, and the taste was bland. I think it's missing something.

Tubbies opt for fresh pasta: Fettuccine with Clams and Mussels.

And Aimi had fresh pasta: Fettuccine with Salmon in Tomato Sauce.

I'm not sure about their pasta. It's a bit tough for my liking. Although Tubbies and Aimi ordered for different pasta, I couldn't help but to think that they both taste quite similar. How do I say this... Well, they both taste like parsley. Maybe they sprinkled too much chopped parsley on top? Their pasta taste a bit bland too. It would taste better with more seasoning, perhaps?

I tried their Italian Soda - Cranberry Breeze. It's made of cranberry syrup, lime juice and sprite. Not bad.

Aimi had their Italian Soda - Tropical Breeze. It's made of Creme de banana, pineapple, and coconut syrup with sprite.

Overall, I've got to say that I really like their Pizza crust. They're really delicious! I definitely going to order their pizza on my next visit. I'm not sure about the other food that we ordered though... Maybe I should try something else...

Eating Out: Garden Recipe

My friends and I found into this restaurant during our visit to Malacca. The restaurant looks cute (like a perfect spot to take more pictures!). We were hungry. Thus, we decided to try this restaurant.  We thought that this restaurant would served the usual kopitiam dishes. But we were wrong. Garden Recipe served healthy and delicious food.

I got myself a French Style Fried Rice. This fried rice were made of brown rice. It's served with soup, shredded vegetables and watermelon. I don't usually like brown rice. I thought that it didn't taste good (most healthy food doesn't taste good anyway) and it seems that I'm always hungry when I had brown rice. But, Garden Recipe's fried brown rice's really good. I never thought that brown rice could taste this good.

My friend opt for brown rice noodles with salmon. It looks pretty plain, but it taste good. The broth contains a mild taste of ginger.

Jah opt for Portuguese Fried Rice. It's plating was pretty much like French Fried Rice. I thought that Portuguese Fried Rice had a savory taste.

We had chicken pops for snack/side dishes. It's served with tartar sauce, I think.

Eating Out: The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's Velvet Cake

I was craving for some chocolate cake the other day. So, my friend said she would treat me some after I accompanied her to Daiso. Anyway, while looking around from shop to shop for the chocolate cake, I noticed the velvet cake in Coffee Bean, and decided to try them (instead of having chocolate cake). Well, I've never tried any velvet cake except for the one that I made myself. I thought this might be a good opportunity to try them. And boy, I was quite disappointed. The cake isn't moist enough, and that coconut sprinkled around the cake is kind of distracting. I can't really taste the cheese frosting!

My friend had some Macadamia Yogurt Cheese Cake! They were really, really good at first bite. The cheese was melting, and it was really, really great. But after a while, they went really, really sweet, and my tooth started to hurt. I'm not sure if I wanted to go to Coffee Bean for another cake.

Eating Out: Kindori Ice Cream

We went to Kindori in Sunway Pyramid last week. Kindori Ice Cream used real fruits, and the ice cream will be prepared on the spot! How cool is that!? Kindori Ice Cream is promoting great-tasting, natural and healthy ice cream. I love the fact that their ice cream is less sweetened than other ice creams.

According to the website, the fruits are 'blast-frozen' and blended with a secret fresh milk base. So, instead of choosing the ice cream on the counter (like many other ice cream), you got to choose fruits instead!

I choose cherry flavor. They were a bit sour. My friends choose chocolate and some other berry. The chocolate flavor was really, really good! The wafer was good too!

Eating Out: Mr. Tom Yam

Mr. Tom Yam Fire Pot for 2 pax (RM 19.90++)

I have always been a fan of Tom Yam. They're (almost) everywhere in Malaysia. But, finding a good Tom Yam restaurant is not that easy. So, the last time my friends and I went to Sunway Giza and spotted Mr. Tom Yam, we decided to give it a try. Seeing that the restaurant been using Tom Yam as the restaurant name, we thought that the restaurant might serve one of the best Tom Yam in the city.

Sprite with Lime (RM 5.00++)

Oh, boy... we were wrong! The Tom Yam soup is not to what we've been expected. I think that the soup is not that spicy. (That's funny, as many bloggers been saying that their dishes are spicy. My spiciness level must be a bit too high, huh?) Slurping the soup straight from the pot is a bit upsetting as the soup is a little bit too salty. But once the soup is eaten with the fragrant steamed rice, it's alright.

Spicy Spaghetti with Seafood (RM 15.00++)

My friend ordered this Spicy Spaghetti with Seafood. Once delivered, we were wondering whether it is spaghetti or noodle. I mean, it sure did looked like stir fried noodle. My friend was so convinced that they used noodle until I took a bite and confirmed that they did used spaghetti. ( ̄▽ ̄)

Cute serviette!

Eating Out: Saad Char Kuey Teow @ Seksyen 7, Shah Alam

A few weeks ago, my friend and I went past this cute Char Kuey Teow shop in Seksyen 7, Shah Alam, called 'Saad Char Kuey Teow'. The outlet used to be somewhere at the food court in Jalan Plumbum. Now, they moved to a shoplot which is located near the Seksyen 7 lake. It starts operating after 5, I think...

My friends find that the signs was cute! There's a couple of prawns attached on the clock.

Somehow, this shop's furnishing reminds me to 'Fullhouse'. But, of course, 'Fullhouse' is much cuter. O(≧∇≦)O They're quite famous too! They are always packed with customers. If you didn't come early, there's a possibility that you might not get a seat.

Don't you think the furnishing is cute?

I've been a Char Kuey Teow fan since I lived in Penang a few years ago. I've always liked the wet-style Char Kuey Teow as compared to the dried one. What I loved about Saad's Char Kuey Teow was the freshness and sweetness of their prawns. The Kuey Teow wasn't that bad either! If you like wet-style Char Kuey Teow, you're going to love their Kuey Teow as well. ( ̄▽ ̄)

Normal sized Char Kuey Teow~

However, if you went to Saad's Char Kuey Teow, I would suggest you to order the Special Char Kuey Teow instead of the normal size one. You will get one fried egg on top on your Kuey Teow, a bit extra of those noodles and prawn with an addition of RM0.50!

Special Char Kuey Teow

However, in my opinion, the service isn't that good. The foods was a bit late (later than 15 minutes is considered late, right?). Some of the server wasn't friendly at all. There was once when a server rolled his eyes when we called him. I wasn't happy with that server at all! ( ̄へ ̄But, of course,  not all of their server was like that. Some of them was nice too.

They also serve many types of other foods. From top: Prawn Fried Rice, Cantonese Kuey Teow, and Omelet Rice or Nasi Pattaya.

Eating Out: Sticky Candy

Whenever I went passed Sticky, I’ve always thought that it was a marshmallow shop. I mean, it is always crowded with people who wanted to see the live cooking show. So, I’ve never seen what the shop is about until recently. It turns out that Sticky is a homemade candy shop! (´・ω・`)

The shop mainly sells candy in a bottle jar. It's very interesting to see all those candies. There's so many different shapes, patterns, colors and flavors. We get to sample a few types of candies as well. They tasted quite good, and it wasn't that sweet. So, you may get addicted from eating those candies. The most interesting thing is that they also sell candies for special occasions, such as birthdays and weddings.

The raspberry flavored candies. It cost us RM 5, for a pack of cut-off (I think it's rejected due to the shape) candies. (^~^)

My friend bought a bottle of those candies as a present for a friend.

Eating Out: Strawberry Ice Cream @ Cameron

Strawberry's hanging everywhere in that farm

Last week, I went to a trip to Cameron Highland with a few friends. We went to KHM Strawberry Farm to snap some pictures here and there for our assignment. Then, we bought some strawberry flavored ice-cream. I'm not much of a strawberry flavored ice-cream fan. In fact, when my mother bought those Neapolitan ice-creams, I'll always scoop out those chocolate and vanilla flavored ice-cream first, and avoiding those strawberry flavored one. (・_・ ) ( ・_・)
 Those oh-so-good strawberry ice-cream.

However, those ice-cream that I tasted at KHM strawberry farm is real good. Just imagine, savoring that strawberry ice-cream coupled with strawberry sauce on top, surrounded with the sweet scent of the strawberry farm. It sounds extremely good, right?

Strawberry jams on rack.

They also sell some scones with strawberry jams, but, with my limited budget, and times, I have to forget them. But, I did bought some strawberry jams. They tasted good as well. Maybe on my next visit, I'll try those scones and jams.  (*≧▽≦)
